Tuning an organic engine

Finance and budget management software specialist Compleat Software is on a mission to simplify the way that people buy and pay. The company’s software-driven approach covers everything from accounts payable to payment automation.

Compleat approached us because of our experience delivering results in fintech PR and B2B SEO. The company wanted to generate awareness of their tools, focusing on the budget management software to start out, and generate inbound leads.

Our team quickly recognised that Compleat had a great engine – their website and natural expertise – which simply needed tuning with a PR-led SEO campaign. We devised a strategy and got to work.

Our team’s B2B SEO experts revamped the Compleat website. We set ambitious keyword targets, created over 20 new landing pages, and reworked technical elements such as internal linking, redirect chains and canonicals.

We fuelled our SEO efforts with a PR-led followed linking campaign, including earning brand mentions from super contextually relevant publications which we knew would associate them as an authority with search engines.

Results

The results were outstanding. In just 18 months, we placed 48 pieces of contextually relevant tier-one coverage, including Financial Director, Accounting Web, AAT, Accountancy Age, The Independent and City AM. We also received 30 followed links from these publications with an average DA of 44.

These changes produced a 22-place average keyword drop, increased the Compleat website’s domain authority from 25 to 30, and boosted sitewide organic traffic by 50%. This boost in awareness had the desired result – it generated 93 new leads for Compleat, setting them on the path to growth.
